Training: "Transboundary shipment of waste"

Eco Solutions and**Fortis Visio,** in partnership with ASUOS, are organising a training to explain the requirements for activities involving the transboundary shipment of waste. The training covers the application of the following legal acts:

  • Regulation (EC) No 1013/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 June 2006 on shipments of waste;
  • The Waste Management Act and its secondary legislation, including:
  • Ordinance on the procedure and method for calculating the amount of the financial guarantee or equivalent insurance and for submitting annual reports/declarations on transboundary shipments of waste;
  • Ordinance No. 1 of 4 June 2014 on the procedure and forms for providing information on waste management activities and the procedure for keeping public registers.
  • Ordinance No. 2 of 23 July 2014 on the classification of waste, etc.

The training will be held on 17.04.2019 in Sofia. The aim of the training is to familiarise participants with the new and existing regulatory requirements and the resulting obligations related to the transboundary shipment of waste, so that they acquire the necessary competence and practical skills to apply the legislation and fulfil their obligations in this area. The training will be held with a small group of participants and will include a theoretical lecture supported by practical examples and discussion. It is suitable for:

  • persons carrying out activities under Regulation 1013/2006 as notifiers, consignees of waste or recovery facilities in the case of shipments to and from Bulgaria, including imports and exports, where shipments are subject to the procedure of prior written notification and consent;
  • persons arranging the shipment/export of waste from Bulgaria, consignees of waste and recovery facilities in the case of shipments to Bulgaria, including imports, where notification is not required and shipments are carried out in accordance with the requirements of Art. 18 of Regulation No 1013/2006 (Annex VII);
  • persons carrying out waste transport to and from Bulgaria.

Lecturers:

  • Lina Patarchanova –* E**xpert in waste management and transboundary shipment of waste, with over 10 years of experience in transboundary shipment of waste as an expert at the Ministry of Environment and Water.*
  • Veselin Panayotov – Environmental consultant with over 15 years of experience in waste management.
  • Stanislav Nikolov – Environmental consultant with over 10 years of experience in waste management.
