We Are Starting a Project Under the LIFE Programme

Fortis Visio is the coordinating beneficiary of project LIFE17 NAT/BG/000602: LIFE UNDER ONE ROOF, full title: Bats and men – sharing LIFE under one roof. The project, which was approved at the beginning of the year and will be funded under the EU LIFE Programme, will start on 01.08.2018 and run until 31.07.2023. Our project partners are the Science for Nature Foundation (associated beneficiary) and Dundee Precious Metals Krumovgrad EAD (co-financer). The project aims to increase the populations and help improve the conservation status of 9 bat species in 8 Natura 2000 sites of key importance for their conservation. The main objectives of the project are:

Reducing the adverse impact of the main threats to the nine target species in the selected eight key Natura 2000 sites by:

supporting and maintaining their habitats used for breeding, hibernation, resting and foraging;
reducing disturbance during sensitive periods of their life cycle (breeding and hibernation).

Raising public awareness and building capacity for bat conservation.
