Open Demonstration of Tree Health Assessment Held in Stara Zagora and Gabrovo

On 3 and 4 June, two open demonstrations of tree health assessment were held in the towns of Stara Zagora and Gabrovo. The events were organised and run by Fortis Visio and the Arborists Association of Bulgaria with the assistance of municipal representatives.

The demonstrations presented current methods for assessing, analysing and resolving problems affecting trees and woody vegetation. Part of the presentation focused on examining the interior of trees using specialised high-tech equipment – a sonic (impulse) tomograph and an automatic probe that measures wood resistance. These instruments make it possible to detect internal cavities, decay processes and deviations from normal values that indicate a health problem and cannot be seen with the naked eye.

Another part of the demonstrations focused on professional tree climbing – a technique that allows specialists to carry out work in the tree crown safely and efficiently. Correct techniques for crown shaping and branch removal were also demonstrated.

The “Tree Doctor” expert team brings together arborists, landscape architects, biologists and specialists from other fields and sciences related to trees. This allows every assessment to be comprehensive and as accurate as possible.
